As for sharing material between Scrivener projects -- in practice I've never had to do that, so I'm not sure if, or how, it's possible!

Citation manager software like Zotero -- I know journalist friends of mine that love it! But me, I've never used it. I tend to just include enough info in each of my Scrivener notes that let me re-find the original work ... and when time comes to write the endnotes for my book, I just buckle down and spend two weeks refinding the reference for every cited fact in my book. Not terribly efficient! But it works for me ...
