Good point about scottish word usage!

The corpus they compared it with was word-occurrence in all of Shakespeare's other plays. So, they found he used "the" far more frequently than he did in his other work ... they figure there are 150 more uses of "the" than you'd find if he used the word with the same periodicity as in his other plays.
