When I dig deeper into a subject, it's hard to generalize about the go-to sources -- they're different for each story.

But when I'm in the early stages and trying to get that 50,000 foot in the air view, I use a lot of the big journalistic sources that have large reporting staffs -- all the major newspapers and broadcast outlets, research-heavy general interest magazines like the Economist, Wikipedia, and relevant industry journals ...
