I think there are three prongs of action: pressuring politicians at every level to pass policies encouraging the use of electric vehicles and electrification and public transit and cycling; whenever financially possible, buying alternative forms of transit and using them, which helps prime the economy that makes up things cheaper and more affordable for everyone; and frankly talking as much as possible with everyone we meet about this stuff.
