True enough. The design of the site encourages more "essays" than "blog posts".

The stuff I write here is longer than in my days of blogging.

Then again, I did note that over time -- i.e. blogging from 2002 to around 2010 heavily, with a bit after -- my posts got longer and longer over time, and drifted towards essays ...

So maybe the form was evolving, even back then?
