Yep -- agreed; the stuff we do just because we want to is often amazing and/or valuable far beyond ourselves.

I guess part of the discussion around guaranteed annual income is the prospect of allowing people to survive while doing more of this type of work. I think some of the early experiments have found that .... and I'm talking about the projects that were aiming not necessary to pay a full middle-class income but just to supplement significantly someone's existing income, i.e. with an additional $1,000 a month. It really unlocked the potential of a lot of folks ...
