Yep, I've heard the same thing about Linux and Nvidia GPUs ... I think the situation is getting better all the time as the Linux developer community slowly tackles that hardware, but there are a *lot* of different Nvidia GPUs and I bet it'll take a damn long time for various distros of Linux to support most of them, alas ...
