Yes! I also remember talking to Warren Spector, years ago, about a little helper robot they made for Deux Ex. They'd originally hoped to make the AI governing it really good, but they didn't have enough time ... so it wound up being kind of "eh". I could guide itself around medium-well, but it would often get stuck in a corridor somewhere and the player would need to go over and help guide it along.

Spector and the design team were worried that players would be totally annoyed by this ...

... but in reality, people loved the robot -- precisely because it was slightly helpless! It made it feel more real.
